According to Everton fans, there has been only one bad deal from the club in the transfer window so far - and that was the £60million sale of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur.
Richarlison was always likely to leave Merseyside at the end of last season, but his sale to Premier League rivals has sparked something of a divide in the Everton faithful, with nearly 10,000 Blues supporters voting in our “Good Deal or Bad Deal?” poll so far.
Only 55 per cent of Evertonians believe Richarlison’s £60m move to Spurs was evidence of good business by the Goodison Park hierarchy.
Everton’s quick business to beat West Ham United to the 20-year-old defensive midfielder Amadou Onana for £33.7m, along with the signing of James Tarkowski from Burnley and Conor Coady from Wolves on a season-long loan, have been ruled as overwhelming successes by Blues supporters, with more than 96% voicing approval. Onana's signing is viewed as particularly audacious coup, with manager Frank Lampard viewing the Belgian as integral to his bid to shore up Everton's porous defence from last season.
More work remains to be done, however, especially in attack if the stingy memories of relegation from last season are to be properly purged from memory, and the possibility of losing Anthony Gordon to Chelsea continues to be a threat.
