Everton 'poised' to appoint Vitor Pereira as manager as Farhad Moshiri takes another 'gamble'

Vitor Pereira is reportedly expected to become the new Everton manager barring a late change of heart from Farhad Moshiri.

The 53-year-old has been named as the front-runner for the position in recent days.

And it now appears Blues owner Moshiri is prepared to place his trust in Pereira.

A number of reports emerged last night suggesting the former Porto and Fenerbache boss is very much the favourite for the role after supposedly impressing in interview.

Here is the latest on of what has been said regarding Everton's pursuit of Pereira.

BBC Sport

What?

This report claims that Moshiri is 'poised to take another gamble' by appointing Pereira as the club's new first-team manager.

Currently considered the favourite for the role, the Portuguese is understood to be top of Everton's list after 'impressing in talks'.

It is claimed, however, that his contract may not last beyond the end of the current campaign and could include a break clause depending on the situation the Blues find themselves in come May.

What?

Pereira, alongside Frank Lampard, was asked to make a 'further presentation' when meeting Moshiri earlier this week.

The Mirror add that 'senior executives at the club were expecting to take a step back from an immediate decision' to allow for a considered take, though the situation has since changed.

After meeting again with Pereira, Moshiri and his backer Alisher Usmanov are claimed to have taken the advice of associate and football agent Kia Joorabchian, who represents the Portuguese coach.

The Guardian

What?

Further to the BBC's claim that a break clause could be in place within Pereira's contract, the Guardian have added that this could occur in the event of Premier League relegation.

Another candidate expected to give Pereira strong competition for the job is Wayne Rooney, whose prospects for the role are not looking likely at this stage.

The report suggests that the Derby County boss is yet to be formally approached by the Blues.

Daily Mail

What?

Pereira was in London on Tuesday night after emerging as the leading contender to become Everton's manager, the Mail have suggested.

The ex-Porto coach was in the capital for talks with the Blues and a deal is now expected to 'accelerate'.

Only a 'late U-turn' would prevent Pereira from taking the reins at Goodison Park.
