Everton player ratings as Yerry Mina the hero but two poor in dramatic Wolves draw

Jordan Pickford 7

Saved well from Adama Traore in the build-up to Wolves’ goal but was left cruelly exposed for the rebound and was called into action again moments later when he parried an effort from Joao Gomes.

Nathan Patterson 7

Had been solid enough for almost half an hour, looking after everything that came down his flank before being forced off through injury.

Yerry Mina 9

Cometh the hour, cometh the man, the Colombian fired home from point-blank range to score Everton’s equaliser deep into stoppage-time after a strong aerial display in which he’d previously had an opportunity to score from close range from a Dwight McNeil corner-kick and also made a couple of crucial clearances under pressure.

James Tarkowski 8

A solid display, he would often move over and act as McNeil’s bouncer against the muscular Traore in the first half, while offering a threat from set-pieces at the other end, providing the nod down to Michael Keane to set-up the last-gasp equaliser.

Dwight McNeil 8

Started the game out of position at left-back before being pushed a bit further forward to wing-back after Everton were forced into changes, he stuck to his task diligently and remained disciplined even though the role sacrificed his ability to get forward.

James Garner 7

Lining up out of position – first as a right winger and then right wing back – he remained a willing runner even if his attempts to pick a pass were often thwarted. Picked up a booking in stoppage-time for bringing down Matheus Nunes.

Idrissa Gueye 6

If only he’d been able to latch onto that square pass from Abdoulaye Doucoure. There was also a hearts in the mouth moment when he challenged Nelson Semedo in the area after losing possession on what was a difficult afternoon for the midfielder.

Amadou Onana 5

Recalled to the starting line-up but looked off the pace, giving up possession in dangerous positions while his decision-making looked suspect going forward.

Abdoulaye Doucoure 5

Crucially gave the ball away when trying to pick out Gueye with a square pass at the start of the counter-attack move that resulted in Wolves’ goal, his leggy strides appeared heavier than normal with his display lacking the energy and composure we’ve seen from him in recent times.

Alex Iwobi 6

Started on the left wing in front of McNeil where he would diligently track back regularly to support his team-mate. A reshuffle then saw him deployed further forward and he had a couple of chances after the break but was unable to make them count.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin 6

Led the line well and had several half-chances with headers that have been off target while also having something of a penalty shout when bundled over by the already prostrate Toti before disaster struck in first-half stoppage-time as he pulled up and immediately left the proceedings.

SUBS

Michael Keane (on 29 for Patterson) 6

Brought on when right-back Patterson got injured, he was nowhere to be seen when Hwang Hee-chan netted from what should have been his area of the pitch but looked more assured when moved inside into a centre-back trio and then displayed the composure to set up Mina for his last-gasp leveller.

Demarai Gray (on 45 for Calvert-Lewin) 7

Brought on in first-half stoppage-time when Calvert-Lewin was forced off, there weren’t many opportunities for him but he forced one good save out of Daniel Bentley when he cut inside from the left and let fly and then played in the deep cross for Everton’s late leveller.

Neal Maupay (on 81 for Onana) 6

Late cameo

Mason Holgate (on 81 for Gueye) 6

Ditto
