Jordan Pickford 7
Wasn’t exactly kept busy but made a smart save when it mattered, getting down low to his left to turn an Eberechi Eze shot around the post. Was eager to get attacks going with early distribution but sometimes too eager, playing his team-mates into trouble when a chance to reset might have been more prudent.
Mason Holgate 4
Got the nod, perhaps surprisingly, ahead of Nathan Patterson at right-back and was involved in an ongoing battle against Jordan Ayew that ebbed and flowed but saw him booked in the first half for shoving his opponent to the ground and then sent off for a second yellow card on 80 minutes for chopping down the same player.
Vitalii Mykolenko 6
Had his work cut out against the tricky Michael Olise and was often on the back foot but stuck to his task.

Michael Keane 7
Much-improved after last week’s disappointment, he was commanding in the air and more assured on the deck.
James Tarkowski 7
Like centre-back partner Keane, was back looking more solid and a dominant figure in both boxes.
Idrissa Gueye 7
Disciplined display in front of the back four, he was often nipping in to make crucial interceptions when sensing danger.
James Garner 7
The young midfielder is still learning his trade in the Premier League but offers Everton an added dimension with his passing range and there was a nice moment shortly before the break when he used some fancy footwork to bamboozle Joel Ward and buy himself half a yard.
Alex Iwobi 7
Back in the centre as Sean Dyche reverted to 4-5-1 after starting 4-4-2 for the past couple of games, he came close to breaking the deadlock with a low drive from outside the area that Sam Johnstone had to palm away at full stretch and was energetic and enterprising.
Dwight McNeil 6
Everton’s most likely creator from both open play and set-pieces, he kept plugging away trying to pick his spot but to little avail.
Demarai Gray 6
Back out wide, he put in the kind of hard yards that Dyche demands of his wide men, finding himself embroiled in several tussles but with little scope to work his magic and was the man sacrificed when Everton went down to 10 men.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin 6
Promising long-awaited return from Everton’s number nine, he provided the attack with the kind of tangible focal point they’ve lacked in his 11 weeks out of the side and fashioned an inviting chance for himself when being picked out by Iwobi, pirouetting to get between Palace’s centre-backs but shooting wide.
SUBS
Ben Godfrey (on 82 for Gray)
Slotted in well late on in difficult circumstances.
Neal Maupay (on 90 for Calvert-Lewin)
