Jordan Pickford - 6
He was called into action to clear a few less-than-certain backpasses and deal with some dangerous crosses into the box throughout the game while pulling off a couple of solid saves. However, Brentford kept the pressure on him to make sure his distribution wasn't on top form.
Nathan Patterson - 7
Got back extremely well on one occasion in the first half to stop a dangerous Brentford counter attack and has posed a threat himself when breaking forwards. He still needs to work on a few defensive aspects of his game, but there was certainly enough positives in this performance to have fans excited.
Mason Holgate - 6
This was another solid performance from Holgate as he continued his strong run of form from the back end of last season. Unfortunately he picked up an injury which forced him off early, and Everton will hope that doesn't prove to be a serious one.

Conor Coady - 7
Was often dealing with Ivan Toney and he dealt with that very well to limit the striker's chances, while his fantastic long pass set up Everton's goal in the first half. Without him at the centre of defence, the visitors would probably have conceded a lot more goals than they did.
James Tarkowski - 6
Didn't begin the match as well as Evertonians would have liked, but certainly grew into the rest of the match especially in terms of his aerial ability in both boxes. Unfortunately he couldn't help the Blues secure a clean sheet among the boos he received from the fans of his former side.
Vitalii Mykolenko - 5
Wasn't asked to break forward as much as Patterson on the opposite flank, throughout the 90 minutes but he still managed to cause Brentford a few problems whenever he did. Unfortunately, he switched off too easily for the equalising goal, though.
Amadou Onana - 8
As first Premier League starts for your new club go that was a very good one from Amadou Onana, especially when you consider he can't be up to full match fitness yet. He made some great tackles in the second half particularly and his inch-perfect through-ball to Demarai Gray should have led to better.
Alex Iwobi - 7
Something of a quieter 90 minutes than maybe Everton fans have been used to seeing from him this season, but he still hardly put a foot wrong. He built a great partnership with Amadou Onana in the centre of the pitch for large parts of their time together.
Anthony Gordon - 7
Took his goal really well after looking like he might have just taken one touch too many, showing great pace to run in behind and great composure to find the back of the net. His defensive work throughout the game was absolutely crucial to stop Brentford getting more out of the game.
Dwight McNeil - 5
It just didn't really fall for him throughout the 90 minutes as much as it did for his teammates at the top end of the pitch. He played some nice passes and was involved in good interchanges at times, but didn't have the final third effect that Everton needed - although to be fair he's not a central striker.
Demarai Gray - 6
Looked quite lively throughout with some sharp runs in behind the defence which certainly caused them a lot of bother. However, his opportunity when played through by Onana proved to be absolutely vital and could have given the Blues the cushion they needed to keep hold of three points.
SUBS
Michael Keane - 5
Wouldn't have been expecting to come into the defence when he did, but he couldn't stop Brentford scoring.
Tom Davies - 5
Didn't really get many opportunities to get his foot on the ball was Brentford were on top by the time he came on.
Salomon Rondon - N/A
