Everton player ratings as Alex Iwobi and Seamus Coleman brilliant against Crystal Palace

Jordan Pickford 7

Had little to do but sprang into action at a crucial moment early in the second half when Crystal Palace had come back out looking lively, turning a Michael Olise effort around the post from point blank range.

Seamus Coleman 9

The 34-year-old Everton captain showed no signs of slowing down in his third game of the week as he rolled back the years to keep Wilfried Zaha tucked in his back pocket, including making a timely last-ditch tackle to deny the Eagles’ danger man.

Vitalii Mykolenko 8

The left-back’s most-encouraging display for several weeks as he not only defended resolutely but consistently got forward and played his part in the second goal, getting on the end of Onana’s pass to force Guaita into the save before Gordon tapped in.

Conor Coady 7

The calmest man on the pitch at Goodison Park as many around him lost their cool in what was a heated contest, this was the kind of display in which he showed himself as a real Rolls-Royce of a centre-back.

James Tarkowski 8

At his best when it’s a physical contest, Everton’s bouncer at the back rose to the challenge in the face of Patrick Vieira’s attack dogs and was inch-perfect with all his tackles.

Idrissa Gueye 7

A vintage ‘Gana’ display, he showed for the ball regularly in all the tight areas and kept the momentum up with his crisp, short passing.

Amadou Onana 7

Displayed both silk and – encouragingly – steel as he combined delightful passing with strong tackling to create a dominant display.

Alex Iwobi 9

Everton’s most-creative outlet, he provided the assist for two goals, laying on a delicious pass for Calvert-Lewin to net the opener before his cheeky back-heel teed up substitute McNeil to complete a slick one-two for the third.

Anthony Gordon 8

Got his first Goodison Park goal of the season – eventually, after the assistant referee had bizarrely raised his flag for offside – as he was on hand to chase down Vitalii Mykolenko’s parried effort and tap into the empty net and it was deserved reward for a much-improved display.

Demarai Gray 7

Livelier than of late with a twinkle-toed display that kept Crystal Palace’s defenders on their toes and included some testing deliveries before making way with just under 20 minutes remaining.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin 8

Showed what Everton have been missing with a classic centre-forward’s display, leading the line with courage throughout and showing great prowess to shrug off Marc Guehi for the opening goal before despatching a cool right-foot finish.

Dwight McNeil (on 72 for Gray) 8

Superb one-two with Iwobi to net the third goal after coming off the bench.

James Garner (on 78 for Onana)

Continuing to build up his minutes and knocking on the door.

Neal Maupay (on 78 for Calvert-Lewin)

Lively run-out towards the end.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (on 86 for Gordon)

Late cameo.

Tom Davies (on 86 for Gueye)

Got on towards the end along with Doucoure as Everton finally used all five substitutes.
