Jordan Pickford
This will have been a hugely frustrating match for the England No.1. He actually produced a number of really good saves throughout his half on the pitch, but he was ultimately powerless to stop three goals going past him. Memories of last season, perhaps.
Nathan Patterson
He's still a player that will clearly need time in the side to get back up to speed following an extended period on the sidelines. He showed some good flashes throughout the first half in that sense, but there were also clearly some defensive aspects that need some work.
James Tarkowski
Right at the start of the match his confidence and composure on the ball were crucial to Everton having a strong start, and then defensively he made a fantastic challenge in the 25th minute to stop a great chance. His first steps as an Everton player have certainly been promising.

Michael Keane
One to try and shake off and forget for Michael Keane. Defensive mistakes littered his match including sliding in to put the ball beyond his own goalkeeper for the second goal of the match. After a promising Arsenal display, this wasn't what he needed.
Vitalii Mykolenko
Started the match by getting forward into some dangerous positions, but they became much more limited as the half went on. Defensively he was faced with some stern tests and wasn't quite up to a few of them on this occasion, so there's work to be done before the campaign starts.
Abdoulaye Doucoure
Another who had a bright start to proceedings, particularly in getting around the outside of the box to link up with his teammates, but couldn't keep that up throughout his time on the pitch. As Minnesota United took advantage, Doucoure's presence in midfield was left wanting.
Tom Davies
It was an extremely harsh decision for him to give away a penalty for the opening goal of the match, but the midfielder really struggled to get to grips with the rest of his half after that moment.
Demarai Gray
Showed a few bright sparks with a couple of shots on goal in each half, and had a couple of strong free kick deliveries into the box. However, the winger didn't get enough opportunity to really stretch his legs and have a go at the opposition defence.
Alex Iwobi
Playing in his natural attacking midfield position, Iwobi was another who begun the match in strong fashion with some intricate passes around the edge of the box. As the hosts claimed the advantage though, his influence became much less important.
Anthony Gordon
Probably one of the brightest players in general for Everton, at least attempting to get defenders on the back foot and trying to win some dangerous fouls around the outside of the penalty area. However, mistakes even crept into his game too.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
He can't complain at not having opportunities this time around as chances did fall the way of the striker. However, he couldn't take advantage of any and left the field at half time without a goal to his name.
SUBS
Billy Crellin
Was tested less than Pickford was in the first half, but was still powerless to stop Minnesota United bagging another goal in the second half while he was on the pitch.
Mason Holgate
Made a couple of interceptions while playing out-of-position at right back. However, it was Holgate who played everybody onside in the build-up to the hosts scoring their fourth goal, and Everton can't afford that lack of concentration in a few weeks time.
Yerry Mina
Not the most confident of displays from a centre-back who is usually so strong for Everton. The Blues might not have been under as much pressure in the second half as they were in the first, but there's still causes for concern.
Ben Godfrey
Another who had a shaky display after being introduced to the game, summed up by a long ball which was smashed straight out of play under little pressure midway through the second half. Picked up a late booking for a poor challenge after a dreadful touch, as well.
Niels Nkounkou
He did manage to get forward into some interesting attacking positions throughout the second half, but defensively he was left wanting again. Particularly for the fourth goal, Nkounkou was caught too far inside and left acres of space on his flank for the cross.
Lewis Warrington
As was always planned, Warrington came on at half time and played for 25 minutes before being replaced. He had a few nice touches in the centre, but was also caught in possession a couple of times too.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin
A pretty promising display from the midfielder all things considered, in the context of his teammates at least. He made some good runs forward with some nice touches, and sprinted back around 30 yards into his own box on one occasion showing great strength to stop a counter attack.
Dele Alli
It might only be pre-season, but he might be thinking about *that* miss for a little while. Otherwise, he clearly showed his frustration on a number of occasions with some tasty challenges on his opponents.
Salomon Rondon
Didn't really get any opportunities to have a shot on goal during his time on the pitch, but his link-up play and strength around the box were decent on the few occasions that the ball found him.
Stanley Mills
Another bright display from Mills, this time playing forward in a right-wing position he might be a little more used to. He was always keen to put defenders on the back foot and set up chances for teammates.
Lewis Dobbin
His first minutes of the summer. He showed a lot of bright energy after his introduction but teammates often missed their opportunities to use his pace effectively down the flank with a ball in behind the defence.
Isaac Price
Another getting his first minutes in pre-season, and he showed some nice touches at least in the centre of midfield after his introduction. Something to build on.
