Ashley Cole is ready to join Frank Lampard at Everton - as the club prime Tim Cahill for a ‘part-time’ role.
Former England full-back Cole is moving closer to becoming the latest member of Lampard’s backroom staff at Goodison, following the 43-year-old’s appointment on Monday.
Cole is Chelsea’s under-16 coach but is now expected to join his former team-mate, who has already brought Paul Clement, Joe Edwards and Chris Jones with him.

Cahill, meanwhile, is being lined up for a formal role at Everton having advised Farhad Moshiri during the club’s recent managerial search.
Moshiri spoke glowingly about Cahill in an interview with the club on Monday and the ECHO understands the club’s majority shareholder has been impressed with his knowledge of the game.
The Blues owner said the appointment of Lampard was "aligned" with Everton's strategic review and confirmed that Cahill helped out during the process.
Moshiri explained: “We ensured a lot of expertise went into it.
“We had Graeme Sharp, with his vast football experience, and our Board. Tim Cahill was [also] advising me personally and attending all the interviews. He did very diligent, serious work."
Cahill currently combines being on the board at KAS Eupen with being the Chief Sports Officer of the Aspire Zone Foundation.
But Everton are working on a part time position for Cahill at Goodison.
