Everton kid Isaac Price hits back to Celtic's Matt O'Riley over 'red card' tackle

EVERTON superkid Isaac Price has broken his silence on his horror tackle on Celtic's Matt O'Riley that the Hoops midfielder claimed could have broken his leg and admitted it was 'naughty.'

The Danish Under 21s star was lucky to escape unscathed after a crunching challenge from 19-year-old Price on O'Riley in the Sydney Super Cup last month which Everton won on penalties after a goalless draw.

Northern Ireland Under 21s midfielder Price wasn't even booked for the challenge and O'Riley admitted after the game he was lucky to escape a serious injury.

He said: "I got lucky. I’m not even sure he got booked, I don’t think he did. It was on my knee. I got quite a big mark from it.

"I had a word with the referee. He was trying to explain it to me but I didn’t really understand.

"On another day I get my leg broken.

"I didn’t get a fright but at the same time when I watched it back, I realised I got lucky. It was high and it was just above my shin."

But Price insisted it wasn't a sending off offence.

He said: "I've had a few comments about that tackle saying that I could have been sent off for that.

"Did I think I was lucky? It was a booking maybe, but it wasn't a red card.

"After the tackle, I looked up at the screen and then I heard everyone go ooohhh and thought it could have been a naughty one.

"After the game, I was really happy with myself, I spoke to my family back home and they were happy with me so that was the main thing."
