Everton 'join race' to sign Ivan Toney as transfer moves for Manchester United duo mooted

Everton are still without a win this season following Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest.

Manager Frank Lampard has already added to his squad this window with the additions of Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil, Amadou Onana and Ruben Vinagre. However, the Blues boss has lost a key player in Richarlison while starlet Anthony Gordon has been the subject of interest from Chelsea, and it was clear to see against Forest, as it had been in the defeats to Aston Villa, that further forward additions are required.

With just a matter of weeks until the transfer window slams shut on September 1, there's still work to be done behind the scenes at Goodison Park to ensure Lampard's side stay clear of another relegation fight this season. And here's a round-up of all the latest names to be linked with Everton.

Who?

Ivan Toney

The Mirror

What?

Everton have 'joined the race' for Brentford forward Ivan Toney, according to a new report.

The Blues are in the market for a striker with Dominic Calvert-Lewin sidelined through injury and following the departure of Richarlison earlier this summer. It has been reported Manchester United have been 'keeping tabs' on Toney for some time, but they've now been joined by rivals Everton and Chelsea in the race to sign him.

A report from the Mirror claims both the Blues and Chelsea are 'weighing up' a move for the 26-year-old, despite the latter's pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The report goes on to say Toney is now a target for all three clubs and Brentford are 'preparing for bids' before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Who?

Maxi Gomez

Where?

Sky Sports Germany

What?

Toney isn't the only striker Everton are reportedly considering a move for, as Valencia's Maxi Gomez is also said to be an option.

Sky in Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims the Blues and Newcastle United are in the race for the Uruguay international. He reports Gomez is eager to leave the La Liga outfit with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach pushing for a move.

However, he adds the asking price is currently too high for them, which 'leaves the door open' for both Everton and Newcastle to make a move. Fenerbahce are also reportedly keen on the player.

Who?

James Garner

Where?

The Mirror

What?

Everton will face strong competition for Manchester United youngster James Garner.

Southampton, Nottingham Forest and the Blues have all been linked with the 21-year-old this summer but now a fresh report from the Mirror claims Leicester City have also joined the race. The article adds the midfielder could be available for £15m this summer and both Everton and Southampton have already sounded out the possibility of signing him.

However, with Youri Tielemans' future still up in the air and ongoing speculation over whether he'll remain at the King Power, it seems Brendan Rodgers could already be planning for life without the Belgian international as they 'weigh up a move' for the rumoured Lampard target.

Who?

Scott McTominay

Where?

talkSPORT

What?

Everton are among the clubs to be linked with a shock move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Following the arrival of Casemiro at Old Trafford, there has been suggestion the Scotland international could be dropped from Erik ten Hag's starting line-up as competition for places heats up. As a result, McTominay is now a rumoured target for at least four Premier League sides.

According to talkSPORT, Everton, Leicester, Newcastle and West Ham United have 'registered' their interest in the 25-year-old should he be available for a move this summer.
