Everton ‘in talks’ to join Sydney Super Cup as Rangers’ replacements

Premier League giants ‘in talks’ to join Sydney Super Cup as Rangers’ replacements

THE organisers of the Sydney Super Cup look to have found a replacement team to fill the gap left by Rangers.

Celtic will take part in the four-team tournament Down Under this November during the domestic World Cup break.

They will be joined by Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in the friendly set-up.

They were due to be joined by Rangers, with the game billed as the first ever Old Firm derby staged abroad.

However, it proved highly controversial among the Gers faithful and so club bosses pulled their participation from the competition.

Now, it seems that a Premier League side are set to join.

Celtic could come up against Everton in Sydney, with reports stating that Frank Lampard's side are in talks to become the replacement team.

Kick360 say the EPL outfit are in discussions to join the tournament.
