Everton fans swoon at 5 Nathan Patterson moves as all action Scotland display has them all saying the same thing

Impressed Everton supporters are demanding Nathan Patterson is handed a key role in their fight for Premier League survival.

The 20-year-old has struggled mightily for game time since his £12m transfer to Goodison Park from Rangers in January.

But Patterson sent a timely reminder of his burgeoning talent with arguably his finest display in dark blue during the 1-1 draw with Poland.

Patterson's only start for the Toffees was an auspicious one as he was hooked at half time during his side's FA Cup win over minnows Boreham Wood.

Everton manager Frank Lampard's lukewarm verdict raised eyebrows and the rampaging right-back hasn't featured since.

Steve Clarke has been loyal to the players who were behind their seven-game winning run and his belief in the defender certainly isn't misplaced.

And Everton fans are also on board the Patterson bus after seeing what their lesser-spotted signing is really all about with Scotland.

He was a brilliant for much of the contest as he forced an exasperated Polish backline to retreat amid a series of slaloming runs towards goal.

He was on the front foot from the first minute until he was replaced by Stephen O'Donnell in the 67th minute.

Scotland created several chances in the first half and Patterson was involved in several of them.

He firstly latched upon a loose ball in midfield and he showed his confidence hasn't been dented as he jinked and weaved to find space but his effort was straight at Lukasz Skorupski.

His next attempt was audacious as he set off on a stunning solo run that led him past four Polish players before his tame left-footed effort was palmed away by the Polish keeper.

Patterson had a third attempt in the first half as he hit the ball into the ground after seizing upon Callum McGregor's dinked cross to the back post.

The multiple efforts on goal were encouraging, of course, but there was a verve and swagger in everything he attempted while on the pitch.

And he showed his defensive sensibilities on multiple occasions. He was keen to tuck in and provide support to the backline when Poland moved quickly on the counter attack.

It was a promising night between his three attempts on goal, his non-stop support down the right wing and his alert defensive work.

And his display has Everton supporters swooning and here is what they have been saying.

Tom Blott , sharing a clip of Patterson running at goal, said: "Nathan Patterson has taken on more players in this clip than Jonjoe Kenny has in his career."

Matt added: "Nathan Patterson has had more shots on target tonight for Scotland than Seamus Coleman has all season for Everton. Coleman has had one, Patterson has had 3 whilst I've been watching."

Everton News also provided a stats bomb, they wrote: "Nathan Patterson had more shots on target (3) in the first 45 minutes playing for Scotland tonight than the entire Everton squad did against Crystal Palace on Sunday (2)."

Robyn said: "Baffles me that Everton never start Nathan Patterson, he is phenomenal."

Terrarian wrote: "I hope he's given a chance and Mykolenko, how are they supposed to bed in and get used to the league if they don't get minutes, it's not like we are tearing up trees with the current starters. Even if he just rotates with Seamus, it would be something."

Mikel_88 added: "Hopefully comes back with some confidence, can understand Coleman with us defending so bad but when we need a goal i feel patterson would offer more going forward hope to see him get more game time"

Carlito said: "Once again, it appears that there's something weird going on at Everton."

Firhillfill is impressed, he said: "He's at exactly the same stage Andrew Robertson was the first season he signed for Hull. Lots of raw talent but needs time to settle and bulk into the Premier League. He needs a bit of time, he will be a player."
