Everton fan names player of the year who is 'main reason' they are top-flight club

As the end of 2022 comes into view, it’s time for you to vote for who you think has been Everton’s footballer of the year.

It’s been a particularly testing 12 months for the Toffees having avoid relegation from the Premier League last season and struggled to get going in this campaign.

Nevertheless there have been some bright individual moments on the pitch and Everton fan Harry Lawrie has assessed the claims of the four contenders for Fans' Footballer of the Year award and decided where his vote is going.

Anthony Gordon

In my opinion it was a real coming-of-age year for Anthony who went from youngster on the fringes to a key figure for the Blues. Vital goals and performances in the run in helped us beat relegation. Undoubtedly his form has dipped this season after summer speculation looks like it went to his head, but there were signs just before the World Cup break he’s getting back to his best. Let’s see what 2023 holds for the talented youngster. I'd rank his year overall as 7.5/10.

Richarlison

The beacon of Everton’s fight for survival in the Premier League. Crucial goals in crucial games at the death. His work rate epitomised what Everton means to the fans and we can see already this season how much we miss not only his goals, but what his energy brings as an all round attacking threat. The fans know he gave his all for shirt. He's now at Tottenham but an 8/10 for his efforts last season.

Alex Iwobi

From the target of the boo boys to a fans' favourite - what a transformation for Alex. Without doubt his best year as a Blue all born out of sheer determination and work ethic. He’s shown great quality on the ball as well at times and is the stand out performer so far this season before the World Cup. Top assists, running stats, ball retention stats - the works - and definitely deserves his new deal. I think he deserves an 8.5/10 for the past 12 months at Goodison.

Jordan Pickford

Without doubt the main reason the Blues are still in the Premier League this season. Match-winning saves week in week out and his brilliant save versus Chelsea was world class. All allied to a much calmer measured head on the pitch. Has there been a better keeper in the Premier League in 2022 than Jordan? I think it's essential the Blues tie him down to fresh terms. Thank you Jordan for a stellar year. I'd rate it as 9/10 and that's why you have my vote for the Everton Fans' Footballer Of The Year for 2022.
