Everton are exploring the possibility of signing Southampton and Scotland forward Che Adams on loan, according to reports.
The Athletic report that Adams, 26, is a target for Frank Lampard as he looks to fill the strikerless void in the Blues squad. On Saturday evening, the Toffees' promising performance against Chelsea was cracked by the absences of Dominic Calvert-Lewin - who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines following the injury he sustained last month - Salomon Rondon and Richarlison - who was sold to Spurs for £50m back in July.
Twenty-one-year-old Anthony Gordon was tasked with leading the line for Everton's first outing of the new season last weekend, which highlighted Lampard's need for reinforcements in the attacking third.

It is reported that Goodison Park officials have made an approach for the former Sheffield United and Birmingham forward, with the Saints said to be willing to sanction a move for the forward, who was dropped from the starting XI towards the end of last season, if the offer is right.
Adams' future at St Mary's was plunged into further doubt as he was not included in the squad which lost 4-1 to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.
Everton has been busy in the summer transfer market thus far, with deals for Burnley duo Dwight McNeil and James Tarkowski followed up by the astute signing of former Wolves captain Conor Coady. However, their biggest statement of the window was made on Tuesday afternoon when they sealed the signing of promising Lille midfielder Amadou Onana for a fee in the excess of £30m.
