Everton 'enter talks' to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi

Everton have 'entered' talks to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to a report.

The Blues have ramped up their summer transfer business over the last week with Dwight McNeil and Ruben Vinagre joining James Tarkowski as new arrivals. They are, however, yet to replace the departed Richarlison, who left Goodison Park to join Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

But a report from Football.London suggests Everton may have identified the Brazilian's replacement as they are said to have begun negotiations over a permanent move for Batshuayi, who played under Frank Lampard when he was in charge of Chelsea.

The Belgium international moved to Stamford Bridge from French side Marseille in 2016 but has spent most of his time with the London club out on loan. Batshuayi has had spells across Europe with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace and, most recently, Besiktas.

He could now leave Chelsea on a permanent basis if Everton are able to strike a deal for the player and the report from Football.London adds the forward is not in Thomas Tuchel's plans for the new season. It has been suggested they will be willing to part ways with Batshuayi if the price is right given he's about to enter the final year of his contract.

Everton face Chelsea in the opening game of their Premier League campaign on Saturday with a meeting at Goodison Park. Should there be any movement this week, Batshuayi could line-up against his former club this weekend.

Elsewhere, it is understood Lampard is also keen on bringing Idrissa Gueye back to the club from Paris Saint-Germain. Midfield is a key area the Blues boss is looking to strengthen before the new campaign gets underway.
