Everton defender Mason Holgate admits 'there is no hiding place' after the Blues fell to their fourth successive Premier League defeat on Sunday afternoon.
The threat of relegation intensifies as they now sit level on 22 points with Watford, who are 18th, albeit with three games in hand.
Conor Coady's header early in the second-half earned the Midlands club a 1-0 victory at Goodison Park and the table has become grim reading for Everton supporters.
When asked about the relegation battle ahead, Holgate conceded a squad of their quality should be 'nowhere near' the bottom of the standings.

"Nobody wants to get relegated no matter what club you’re at or what the history is," he told Sky Sports after the defeat.
"If you look at the squad we’ve got we shouldn’t be anywhere near here. There’s no hiding that but we are and we have to deal with it.
"It is what it is. There’s no hiding place. There’s nothing we can do about it. We’ve got to dig deep. As a performance if we look at it is was a lot better than Monday night.
"I thought we showed spirit and fight but ultimately when you are down there you have to pick up points. We’re disappointed but we have to start winning games. If we don’t start winning games we have to start not losing games."

Everton have won just one league match this calendar year, a 3-0 win over Leeds United back in February offered the only rest bite as they slip closer to the relegation places.
Holgate conceded they cannot change what has already happened, but says it's time they step up and put results right.
He continued: "Confidence is not going to be high due to results and where we are but we have to believe in ourselves. There is nowhere to hide and it’s time to step up.
"It seems to be at the moment other teams keep nicking it and things aren’t going our way.
"Games are coming thick and fast and we have to stay consistent in our performances and stay strong. We can’t change what has already happened."
