One of Everton's most recognisable 'behind the scenes' figures Dave Harrison is set to leave the club.
The director of football operations - known as 'Contract Dave' because he is often pictured smiling alongside new club signings - is departing to join Manchester United. The move ends a 27 year career with the Blues.
He was appointed to the role in June 2018 after 16 years as club secretary, having been manager of the ticket office for seven years prior to that promotion. Everton today thanked him for his "outstanding dedication" to the club while Harrison said he will reflect fondly on his time at Goodison Park.

Since taking up the role as the head of football operations, Harrison helped oversee the establishment of a significant team beneath him. He is expected to be replaced but until then his responsibilities will be picked up by that unit, led by deputy director of football operations Jonathan Williams, who will work alongside director of football Kevin Thelwell.
Harrison has been appointed to the same role at Manchester United and will lead all operational aspects of the club’s football activities, reporting to football director John Murtough. He will be based at the club's Carrington training ground, with responsibility "for ensuring that... football operations run as smoothly and effectively as possible".
In an announcement released by Manchester United, Harrison said he would "cherish" his time on Merseyside. He had worked for the Old Trafford club before heading across to Everton. He said: “I’m excited to be taking this role at time of such opportunity and promise for Manchester United. I will always cherish my memories of 27 years at Everton and wish everyone at Goodison and Finch Farm all the best for the future. Now, my focus is on helping Manchester United create the best possible operating environment to support success on the pitch.”
In a statement confirming his departure, Everton said Harrison would leave the club at the end of the month. The club said: "Everyone at Everton would like to thank David for his outstanding dedication to the football club over the last 27 years and wishes him well in his future career."
During his time at Everton, David also served as a non-executive Director of Liverpool County FA.
