Everton consider 'frustrated' Manchester United forward in search for attacking firepower

Everton could be set to reignite their interest in Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga as Frank Lampard looks to bring fresh attacking options to Goodison Park next month.

The Blues are understood to have been chasing the 20-year-old Swede last Summer and now the Daily Mail claims that the Toffees are back in for a player who has been 'growing frustrated' at his lack of minutes for the Old Trafford outfit.

Under Erik ten Hag, Elanga has only managed five Premier League starts so far this season, making a four minute cameo in a 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening.

But with Lampard in desperate need of more firepower, the Mail says that Everton want to take the Red Devils youngster on loan. Any move however, would be subject to United bringing in their own replacements. They are still to backfill the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo and have seemingly missed out on signing Cody Gapko to rivals Liverpool.

Lampard is now under increasing pressure to turn around Everton's fortunes after poor form leading into the World Cup break resumed on Boxing Day with a damaging 2-1 home defeat at the hands of bottom-of-the-league Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park.

The away win lifted Wolves off the basement and has left the Blues just a point above the relegation zone. Lampard is understood to want to bring in a winger and a striker but will likely face competition for Elanga from other clubs.
