Everton confirm Dwight McNeil transfer as Frank Lampard's third summer signing

Everton have confirmed the signing of Dwight McNeil on a five-year contract.

The winger has made the switch from Burnley to become Frank Lampard's third addition of the summer, following James Tarkowski and Ruben Vinagre's arrivals at Goodison Park. The fee agreed for the 22-year-old between the two clubs is officially undisclosed with the deal keeping him at Goodison Park until June 2027.

The Blues have had a long-standing interest in McNeil, having pursued a potential transfer for the Clarets star last summer. However, no move materialised then, and negotiations this time around have seemingly moved quickly after reports first came to light earlier in the week.

Upon signing for Everton, the winger told EvertonTV: “It is an amazing feeling to sign. When I heard about Everton’s interest I wanted to get it done straight away because of the Club and how good the team is.

“Speaking to the manager about what they want going forward, it really excited me and appealed to me. I wanted to be part of it. He knows me as a player, as does [Director of Football] Kevin Thelwell. I want to work hard and do well for the team and for the fans."

It's unclear whether the new Blues man will be in the squad for his side's last pre-season match of the summer, coming against Dynamo Kyiv at Goodison Park on Friday evening. Everton will, though, hope he can be involved in the side when Chelsea make the trip to Merseyside on August 6th for the opening match of the Premier League campaign.
