Everton chairman Bill Kenwright lifts lid on Sean Dyche meetings and makes Farhad Moshiri claim

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has revealed the time he spent with Sean Dyche convinced him he was the right man to take charge of the Goodison Park club.

The Blues finally announced on Monday afternoon that Dyche was the club’s new manager. The former Burnley boss replaces Frank Lampard who was sacked last week.

Former Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa had emerged as the leading contender for the role, and even jetted in from Brazil for talks last week. However, news emerged on Friday that Dyche would be the man tasked with leading the Blues away from trouble.

Everton currently find themselves mired in another relegation battle. The Blues are currently joint-bottom of the Premier League table with just 15 points to their name.

But according to Kenwright, once he, director of football Kevin Thelwell, and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri all spent time in the company of Dyche, all three felt that he had all the right attributes to make himself a ’great Everton manager’.

“Kevin and I spent some valuable time with Sean over the past few days and he quickly convinced me that he has exactly the right attributes to make himself a great Everton manager – and a man who could inspire our fanbase. And Farhad felt the same when he met him, too,” the Blues chairman said.

Dyche has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2025 and will take charge for the first time for the Blues’ Premier League clash against Arsenal at Goodison Park this weekend.
