Everton appoint new member of Frank Lampard backroom team to solve injury problems
Everton's backroom team has a new coach with experience at helping players recover from injury.
The Blues have appointed Sean Miller to the role of first-team physical performance coach following his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the aftermath of former manager Bruno Lage's exit. Miller spent seven years at Molineux, where he worked with Conor Coady as recently as the summer.
His key focus at the Midlands club was on rehabilitation, including speed and agility work - as well as being part of a team that reflected on how to learn from injuries suffered by players with the aim of preventing future problems.
Miller initially worked in the Wolves academy as a sports and exercise scientist before stepping up to the role of first team strength and conditioning coach in the summer of 2019. Within the club's physical performance and sports science departments, Miller often concentrated on rehab work including speed and agility-focused warm-ups.
He was released after the club appointed Julen Lopetegui as the manager they hope will lead them from the relegation zone when the Premier League resumes on Boxing Day - with Wolves visiting Goodison Park. Lopetegui brought his own backroom staff with him as part of his appointment.

Nathan Patterson has revealed he’d love to return to Rangers one day as he believes he has 'unfinished business' at the Ibrox club.
Patterson has been one of Everton’s standout performers so far this term. The full-back completed a move to Goodison Park from Rangers back in January but initially struggled to make a meaningful impact.
But to his credit, the Scotland international has bounced back with renewed purpose this season and impressed with a string of impressive displays. Those fine performances led to Blues supporters making a song for the defender based on the Following The Sun by SUPER-Hi x NEEKA tune.
The right-back suffered an ankle injury in Scotland’s 3-0 Nations League win over Ukraine back in September and made his return to action in the Carabao Cup and Premier League defeats against Bournemouth before the World Cup break.
Patterson is under contract at Everton until 2027, and even though he admits he is loving life at Goodison Park, the 21-year-old has revealed he’d love to play for Rangers again in the future and win more silverware with the Scottish giants.
