Everton and Brentford kick off change explained after West Ham United request

The reason for Everton's match against Brentford being pushed back from a 2pm kick off to a 4:30pm start time later this month has been revealed.

The Blues welcome Thomas Frank's side to Goodison Park on May 15th for what will be their penultimate home match of the campaign, looking for a vital three points in the relegation fight. Crystal Palace will make their trip to the stadium a few days later, before Frank Lampard's squad finish their season away to Arsenal.

However on Tuesday morning, less than two weeks before the fixture was due to take place, the Premier League announced the kick off time for the match had been pushed back by two-and-a-half hours.

The ECHO understands that is due to a request from West Ham United for their game against Manchester City, which is also to be broadcast live on Sky Sports, to have their game played earlier on the same day.

This is due to their potential involvement in the Europa League final, giving them more time to prepare in the event of them overcoming Eintracht Frankfurt in their semi final.

That has left both Everton and Brentford fans with late changes to be made to their schedule, however. The visiting side have announced that they are crediting all supporters who have already purchased a match ticket with the value of their ticket for the match.

The Bees released a statement which said: "The support we have had this season has been unbelievable. We apologise for the inconvenience of this late change to the kick-off time but hope the credit for those who have already purchased their tickets will help to compensate for any change in travel plans."

Everton, meanwhile, could yet have more plans in place for another welcome of the team coach to the stadium. The Blues set an incredible tone for their match against Chelsea after huge involvement from fans outside the ground in the hours before kick off.
