Events for all the family for May half term and the Queen's Jubilee Bank Holiday

With half term and the Queen 's extended Platinum Jubilee bank holiday, you may be wondering about how to keep you and your family entertained. Luckily, there are plenty of events going on across Wales which will fill your and your family's time off with plenty of fun.

From food festivals to the theatre to trying out new sports, there is just so much going on. You can read about the best events for children over the long Jubilee weekend here, and below are events taking place over the half term.

A Dog's Trail

If you haven't yet been on an adventure to find all the Snoopy sculptures around Cardiff, Caerphilly and Porthcawl now is your chance. The trail will finish on Sunday, June, 5, and features 115 Snoopy figures.

A Dog's Trail app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store and you can pick up physical copies of maps from various outlets across the trail route, including from Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Cardiff and the A Dog’s Trail Shop in Mermaid Quay. Roath Food Fest

This half term you can try out different food from Welsh street food vendors at the Street Food Circus in Roath Yard. The market will open from Thursday, June, 2 to Sunday, June, 5 from 11:30am to 10pm. The market is free to enter but you will need to book tickets online beforehand. Waitress, Wales Millennium Centre

Why not go to the theatre this half term? The Broadway and West End production of Waitress is coming to Cardiff as they perform in the Wales Millennium Centre from Monday, May, 30, to Saturday, June, 5.

Chelsea Halfpenny, who has starred in BBC medical drama, Casualty, and the ITV soap Emmerdale, takes the lead role of Jenna. Tickets start at £18.50 and if you are thinking of visiting the Wales Millennium Centre for the show you can read where the best hotels to stay within walking distance are here.

Margam Country Park

Margam Country Park in Port Talbot is holding a whole host of activities this half term. You and your family can try your hand at archery, enjoy a show of Siani Sionc the Superhero and help decorate for the Jubilee over the half term.

Victoria Park Splash Pad

The splash pad in Victoria Park, Cardiff, is opening just in time for the Jubilee and the May half term. The splash pad will open on Thursday, June, 2, and is free to enjoy. You can read more about the Victoria Park splash pad here.

Swansea Bay Pop-Up

You can get some delicious food at the Swansea Bay Pop Up (Swansea Bay Pop Up)

Running until Sunday, June, 26 the Swansea Bay Pop-Up in Singleton Park is another place to grab some delicious food. There are over 20 food vendors at the event serving everything from burgers to bao buns to sweet treats.

Hay Festival

If you and your family love reading then the Hay Festival is for you. This world-renowned literacy festival in the quaint town of Hay-on-Wye is perfect for all the family.

The festival is running until Sunday, June, 3 and you can book your tickets online.

Urrd Eisteddfod

Celebrating everything Welsh culture, the Urdd Eisteddfod is perfect for kids. Each year the Urrd Eisteddfod is held in a different area of Wales and for 2022 it will be in Denbighshire.

Taking place across the half term week from Monday, May, 30 to Saturday, June, 4 there is plenty to keep children entertained, from dancing to photography competitions, to drama.

Wye Valley River Festival

Also running across the May half term is the Wye Valley River Festival. This innovative arts organisation is running different exhibitions, activities, and productions in Monmouthshire. The festival is running until Sunday, June, 5.
