The past couple of seasons, CBS NFL analyst and former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has dealt with a fair share of criticism about his declining performance in the booth. What started as a home run hire for CBS thanks to Romo’s insightful perspective on the game eventually turned into Romo coasting through broadcasts with a lack of preparation.
Romo’s play-by-play partner Jim Nantz defended him against the criticism this past offseason, but on Sunday, even Nantz had to get in a joke about Romo’s weird impression of Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
During the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ game against the Jets, Micah Parsons pressured Zach Wilson into throwing an interception to Jayron Kearse.

The entire play justifiably had Quinn fired up in the press box. And as CBS showed the replay from the in-booth camera, Romo became a less-accurate Jomboy and tried lip reading Quinn’s reaction in real time.

I don’t know where Romo was going with that exactly, but Nantz ended the replay with a great remark: “Sound just like him!”
We already know that Romo loves giving lip reading a try during broadcasts. Some attempts are just better than others.
