Eve Hewson responds brilliantly to ‘nepo baby’ social media trend

Eve Hewson has expressed disappointment at not making the cut on a list of so-called famous ‘Nepo’ babies.

The ‘Bad Sisters’ actress, who is also Bono’s oldest child, was responding to an article featured in Vulture Magazine. The term ‘nepo baby’ refers to the children of famous parents, whose success arguably stems at least in part from their parents legacy.

Several well known faces, including Lily Collins - daughter of Genesis’ Phil Collins - made the cut. However, Eve was absent from the list, causing her to take to Twitter with a tongue in cheek response.

She wrote: “Actually pretty devastated. I'm frustrated I'm not featured in the nepo baby article. Like, haven't they seen my hit show Bad Sisters??? The Nerve.”

The 31-year-old then revealed to her followers her new goal for 2023: to get officially recognised as a nepo baby. However, her wish was quickly granted, as eagled eyed Twitter users sent her an article entitled ‘Musicians who raised actors’, which referenced her and her father Bono.

Many fans poked fun at the incident and congratulated Eve on her new status. Others reflected on the potential hazards that come with having a famous parent.

One user wrote: “I’d imagine it’s twice as hard to make it in the first place since you can’t win. I wish you all the best.”

Another person praised Eve’s performance in the Apple TV series ‘Bad Sisters’, which has been renewed for a second series. The author argued her acting ability was too good for her to get recognition as a nepo baby.

The person wrote: “You were too good in Bad Sisters. Be a worse actor and/or a spoiled American and you’ll get that nepo nod.”

Eve’s acting career has taken off in recent years. She also starred in the Netflix drama ‘Behind her Eyes’ which received positive reviews. The star will reclaim her role in the Irish drama ‘Bad Sisters’ for its second season.
