Evangelos Marinakis has no intention of seeing Nottingham Forest relegated from the Premier League as he prepares to back Steve Cooper in the transfer market.
Marinakis told thousands of supporters it is time for a new era of success in Market Square yesterday after the Reds secured promotion at Wembley on Sunday. Teams who go up via the play-offs are often tipped to struggle, but last season Brentford thrived as Norwich and Watford floundered after automatic promotion.
BT Sport commentator and Reds fan Darren Fletcher believes Forest will take a much different approach to the latter two teams with Marinakis able to use his wealth and connections to strengthen manager Steve Cooper's hand.

Speaking on the Garibaldi Red podcast, he said: "Why wouldn't he (go for it)? The amount of money he's put in from his own bank account just to keep Forest going in the Championship, why would you not as a Premier League club not have a go?
"He's not in it to be in the Championship. He wants to own a Premier League club, which he now does. He's had real success with Olympiacos getting into the Champions League every season.
"If you think about the players who have come from that club to the Premier League, Sa at Wolves is a very good goalkeeper, Tsimikas would play at Liverpool if it wasn't for Andy Robertson and Daniel Podence is a very good player for Wolves. Those three players, you wonder had Forest been a Premier League club, would they have come to the City Ground?
"The better Olympiacos players have never come to Forest. Now they have an ability to almost cross-pollenate the clubs. I don't think Norwich and Watford are a fair comparison. Norwich have had two goes at it and not got it right. Forest are doing this for the first time. If you've messed it up twice you have to look at yourself. Watford made too many changes.
"They got promoted with one team then signed another. From an owner's perspective and from a recruitment one, the feeling has always been that the financial restrictions of being in the Championship without parachute payments has made it hard to get out.
"When you get to the Premier League then the financial benefits work in hand with the owner - they are more of a factor. He's got more room as an owner for his financial advantage to help Forest. I don't think he's got promoted to say 'let's get relegated'. If they do go down then they'll set themselves up to come back again."'

Fletcher was in Market Square with his family on Monday to join in the celebrations as Cooper and the players were cheered by thousands, as was Marinakis. While he says they all deserve credit, Fletcher feels promotion was a team effort which went well beyond the players and coaching staff.
"It's easy to talk about Steve and the players but you have to talk about the people behind the scenes. Nick Randall is a solid, secure, intelligent person," he said.
"Dane Murphy has come in from Barnsley and look at his impact. The recruitment has been outstanding. I think Forest fans would take all the loan signings back and they've put a team together extremely well. There's good people behind the scenes working so hard. The players and Steve get the adulation and so they should.
"A lot of people deserve credit. The right people are in the right positions. The owner puts so much of his money in just to keep a Championship club alive. Forest don't have huge corporate space in a ground they could probably fill twice over based on Wembley! Everything he's done for the club to keep it active and where it is needs to be acknowledged."
