Evangelos Marinakis 'no mug' as fierce Nottingham Forest transfer criticism sparks backlash

Nottingham Forest supporters have thrown their backing behind owner Evangelos Marinakis in the face of criticism from Premier League pundits.

Garth Crooks has claimed the Reds owner is 'throwing money' at the club in the belief it will save the club from relegation. Richard Keys has gone one step further and hypothesised that Marinakis will 'get fed up' and see that the club 'slips into administration' due to their summer spending.

Forest fans have railed against such suggestions and shown their support for those running the club. Here is a selection of the social media reaction from our Nottingham Forest News page on Facebook...

Max Attenborough: Is it the same people complaining that 'Forest have thrown money at the team' that would also be complaining that 'Forest have not spent enough' if fewer players had been bought?

Neal Pauley: Marinakis is no mug. Cooper is no mug. I’m imagining they have sat down and devised a plan. They will both be aware of how it will not be easy to integrate a new team in a tough league.

Paul McGee: He's hell-bent on us staying in this league. He'll stop at nothing. Any so-called fan saying 'wish we had never gone up because of what we have spent,' go and support Norwich. The owner has been first class. The season has only just started, so Cooper needs a chance and respect.

Pete Cartwright: Don’t all the top six clubs throw money at signings to try and win the league? What’s the difference?

Gary P: There is a big part of me...that I knew might resurface, that wishes we had never gone up... the scrutiny is boring, misinformed and often disrespectful.

Colin Hall: I have every bit of faith that Forest's new lads will start to pay back Cooper for his trust in them.
