Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has said that he will provide ‘ammunition’ to manager Steve Cooper to be able to compete in the Premier League next season.
The Reds return to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years in August after success in the play-off final against Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon. Levi Colwill’s first half own goal was the decisive moment in the 1-0 win at Wembley Stadium.
Celebrations have taken place around Nottingham City centre today as fans and players embrace the achievements of the past 10 months. But attention will soon turn to preparations for the new season.

Speaking during the event at Old Market Square, Marinakis has made a transfer pledge to Cooper before the summer window opens early next month.
“Now is the time to give Steve all the ammunition he needs, to be able to not only survive but bring some good results,” Marinakis told the Telegraph . “We have to invest more.
“Everybody talks about the television rights and money that comes in, but it is not enough for clubs in the first year.
“That’s why we must not be the poorer relatives of the Premier League. We need to buy some good players and some that will make the difference and have the experience who know the division.”
He has however sent a slight warning over being cautious about the spending over the transfer window. “We need to be careful how we spend and make the right choices,” he added.
Just 24 hours after sealing their place back in the Premier League, Forest have already been linked with players who they could bring to the City Ground. Forest have been credited with an interest in Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White , while decisions over possible permanent moves for this season’s loan players need to be made.
