Evacuation orders have been issued for Santa Monica, a coastal city located west of downtown Los Angeles, due to the rapid spread of the Palisades fire. The fire is burning through approximately five football fields per minute, posing an immediate threat to life.
The City of Santa Monica has declared an Evacuation Order for all areas north of San Vicente, urging residents to leave the area immediately. The affected region is situated at the northwest edge of the city, adjacent to the Santa Monica Canyon. Additionally, a neighboring area bordered by Montana Avenue and 26th Street is under an evacuation warning, indicating a potential threat to life for residents who may require more time to evacuate.
As a result of the Palisades fire, a significant number of individuals are evacuating from the area. Simultaneously, the Eaton fire, a new blaze spanning 400 acres, has ignited in Altadena, located in eastern Los Angeles County. The emergence of this additional fire has prompted evacuation orders for nine zones, with five more areas placed under evacuation warnings.
