American Idol has been rocked after a potential star quit the show during Hollywood Week.
Fans were already debating whether Dave Stewart's daughter deserved a spot in the line-up, but the decision was taken away from them after Kaya Stewart announced she would no longer be competing.
The daughter of the Eurythmics star made a tearful exit as she broke down following the announcement. She was set to perform a duo with 23-year-old Fire on Monday's episode, but pulled out due to illness.
As she revealed her decision to judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, she confessed she had been ill all week and hadn't been able to recover enough to do herself justice.
The decision also left Fire tearing up, but she was able to get through her perform after a fellow contestant stepped up to the plate to help out.
Sitting in the audience, Jayna Elise volunteered her services for the duet of Adam Lambert's What Do You Want From Me as Fire had the judges rising to their feet in appreciation.
Kaya's exit comes after some fans questioned her inclusion in the first place. She appeared a controversial pick during the auditions for the show.
Katy Perry gushed over the "blast from the past" as Dave took up a spot in the background of the audition to provide the backing guitar.
Lionel Richie, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the same night as Dave, said it was "so cool" for Dave to be able to accompany his daughter in this way.
The song the duo performed was one they wrote together titled This Tattoo.
The judges smiled throughout and said Kaya "slayed" the performance, but some fans didn't agree.
Some haters refused to agree, saying she didn't deserve her spot and believed she was only "gifted" it due to her famous dad.
One wrote on Twitter after her initial audition: "Um... Eurythmics are awesome but like... how is this fair???"
Another said: "So even if she wasn't good, do you really think the judges wouldn't have put her through with her famous dad standing right next to her!"
