Eurovision Scott Mills hails Scousers as he shares incredible gesture after Rylan 'stressed'

Scott Mills has heaped praise on Liverpool as he shared an incredible gesture.

The DJ arrived in the city last week as Merseyside staged the Eurovision song contest. The 50-year-old hosted the semi finals alongside Rylan Clark and played a major part in the BBC's coverage.

He appeared on today's edition of Lorraine and revealed how the hosts ran into trouble during their night off. He told Lorraine Kelly: "What we didn't realise was when when we finished dinner was the same time as chucking out time at the area for a rehearsal."

Scott revealed they struggled to get a cab and were mobbed by thrilled Eurovision fans. He added: "Rylan is stressing out because obviously he's getting recognised a lot because he's 10ft tall and looks like Rylan. Obviously, he's lovely and doesn't mind taking photos at all but hundreds of people were starting to come.

"I was ordering cabs and they kept cancelling. We thought how are we going to get out of here? So we saw some people in hi-vis. It turned out to be the Merseyside water police."

Scott was grateful as he revealed how one of the officers came to their aid. He said: "I just want to say thank you so much to them, they didn't take us by boat. Rylan did ask. I want to say thanks so much to Ian from the water police who let us jump in his car and took us back to the hotel. We could have been there for hours."

Eurovision fever swept across Liverpool in a week that will live long in the memory. Scott said that Merseyside have led the way and future cities should follow the Liverpool blueprint. He said: "Sometimes you go to these places and, if you're not in the arena, you wouldn't really know it was happening around the city but you couldn't miss it in Liverpool."
