Many people tuned into watch BBC's The One Show on Friday night as the Eurovision 2023 host city was due to be announced.
It came down to a tight contest between Glasgow and Liverpool, with both cities running strong campaigns to hold the iconic singing competition. As the drama built up, the One Show went live to both Glasgow and Liverpool to get a sense of the atmosphere there, as well as what winning the battle to host would mean to each.
The UK is hosting Eurovision next year on behalf of Ukraine. Ukraine won the event this year and should be welcoming the world to Kiev in 2023 but sadly this has been deemed not possible because of the Russian invasion. The UK is stepping in after it finished second in this year's contest with artist Sam Ryder.

Liverpool will host the contest, and has already released some details of its planned cultural programme, which will begin months before the actual song contest next May.
One Show guest presenter Kevin Duala was in Liverpool for the announcement, joined by Eurovision legend Sonia, and former Olympian Sam Quek. And amid the excitement, some fans at home recognised Kevin from a childhood TV show.
Taking to Twitter, Caroline M said: "It's Kevin Duala From Blue's Clues! Come on Liverpool". Connie said: "It's Kevin from Blue's Clues back in the day", while Dave Holt asked: "Is that Kevin off Blue's Clues?"
Sarah said: "OMG. That's Kevin from Blue's Clues, been annoying me where I recognised him from. Core memory unlocked".
