Eurovision fans branded Liverpool "the best city ever" as the 2023 song contest officially began.
A crowd of nearly 30,000 people gathered outside St George's Hall on Sunday to watch the National Lottery's Big Eurovision Welcome party, with performances from former Eurovision winners, as well as the likes of Atomic Kitten and Jamie Webster.
The show also included aerial performers, drone shows and a dazzling lighting display that was directly projected against St George's Hall. Among the crowd were people who have travelled to Liverpool from across the world for the song contest, with many taking to Twitter to share their love for the city.
