The second semi-final has decided the full line-up of acts taking part in the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
Just like Tuesday’s semi-final, this evening’s event took place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool with pop star and TV presenter Alesha Dixon, actress Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina returning again as hosts.
This evening’s qualifier featured acts from 16 countries, including Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Iceland, Greece, Australia and San Marino.

The event followed the first semi-final on Tuesday (May 9), which saw Croatia, Moldova, Switzerland, Finland, Czechia, Israel, Portugal, Sweden, Serbia and Norway all qualify for the grand final. Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan and Latvia were unable to make it through.
Ahead of the contest, six countries had already qualified for the grand final including the 'big five' - the group of countries that make the biggest financial contributions to the European Broadcasting Union.
These include the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany and Italy. Last year’s winners Ukraine also got an automatic spot in the final.
The 10 acts who made it through to Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest grand final from Thursday’s live show (in no particular order) are:
- Albania: Alba & Familja Kelmendi
- Cyprus: Andrew Lambrou - Break a Broken Heart
- Estonia: Alika - Bridges
- Belgium: Gustaph - Because of You
- Austria: Teya & Salena - Who The Hell Is Edgar?
- Lithuania: Monika Linkyte - Stay
- Poland: Blanka - Solo
- Australia: Voyager - Promise
- Armenia: Brunette - Future Lover
- Slovenia: Joker Out - Carpe Diem
The UK was selected to host this year's contest on behalf of Ukraine after Sam Ryder took second place in last year's competition with his song Space Man.
The Eurovision grand final takes place on Saturday from 8pm and will be screened live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
