Eurovision 2023 Liverpool: Sunshine on its way ahead of Grand Final

The weather in Liverpool will see periods of cloud changing to sunny intervals by late morning.

The Met Office forecast has predicted Liverpool will see a cloudy start but the day will be mostly dry with some sunshine. That should mean good news for those celebrating Eurovision today in the city, especially anyone who got caught in the torrential downpour around 4pm yesterday.

The Met Office yesterday issued a flooding warning in response to thunderstorms that covered large parts of the UK including Merseyside. Roads in Mossley Hill and Huyton were closed in dramatic scenes that even saw a car completely submerged.

But Eurovision goers, thousands of whom have come into the city from across the world, should welcome the news that today will be mostly dry. The chance of precipitation in Merseyside is no more than 10%, according to the Met Office.

It will be a little breezy but temperatures will feel warm. Liverpool should see highs of around 16C with prolonged periods of sun coming later in the evening. That means those visiting the EuroVillage tonight should be in for a treat as the festivities gear up towards tomorrow's final.

Friday's entertainment in known as EuroEve and will centre around a predominantly female party with live performances from the likes of Sophie Ellis Bextor and Charlotte Church's Late Night Pop Dungeon.

Tonight's weather will remain dry for most overnight with some clearer skies. The night will be cooler with a minimum temperature of around 4C.

Saturday morning any cloud should break to leave plenty of prolonged sunshine during the afternoon with maximum highs of 19C.
