Eurovision 2023 fans hail sign language interpreter after Alesha Dixon rap

Alesha Dixon stunned Eurovision fans when she burst into a rap while hosting the first semi-final, but the unsung hero was the sign language interpreter who managed to keep up with her.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 44, is no stranger to lyrical flow having originally shot to fame in girl group Mis-Teeq back in the 90s.

Rapping about the competition while on stage at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, she impressed fellow presenters Julia Sanina and Hannah Waddingham, with viewers at home branding her an “icon”.

They were quick to share their delight on social media and heap praise on the sign language interpreter.

“Alesha Dixon is rapping really quickly and [the interpreter] is keeping up with every word. She’s an icon,” wrote one person.

“Honestly the first semifinal has been on for 30 minutes and it’s already iconic and so gorgeously done. Hannah Waddingham speaking French: sexy Alesha Dixon rapping: iconic Paul O’Grady in the intro: sobbing,” remarked another.

“Oh, Alesha’s still got it. I’d forgotten her rapping in Mis-Teeq,” penned a third.

While a fourth declared: “Alesha Dixon rapping is peak Eurovision craziness.”
