Eurovision 2022: How to vote for your favourite act and can UK viewers vote for the UK?

The Eurovision Song Contest is back with a bang for 2022, and millions of fans are expected to be glued to their screens this evening as each country gives its best performance.

Voting in the grand final opens after all nations have performed. Voting is by telephone only, and in the grand final UK viewers cannot vote for the UK's act.

The BBC warns that any votes from the UK for the UK act will not count, however the call may still be charged. There is also a Eurovision app you can download which will direct you to the numbers you need to call to vote.

The final scores of the songs will combine both the results of the public votes and the results of the national juries appointed. National juries will give 12 points to the best song and 10 points for second place. Third and fourth will get eight and seven points respectively, and so on to one point for tenth place.

Public voting works in the same way as the jury vote - in that the act with the most votes from a country will be awarded its 12 points, the act with the second most will be awarded its 10 points - and so on. And the jury and public televote points will be presented separately

The Eurovision winner will be the song with the most points from the combined calculation of the total points from all of the televoting results and the total points awarded from all of the national juries' from all participating countries.

The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final airs from 8pm on Saturday (May 14) on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
