France has toughened restrictions on UK visitors planning to enter the country in the coming weeks.
The nation has banned tourists from entering if they have not received their second jab within 270 days of travel or have been given the Covid booster.
Eurostar confirmed the new regulations yesterday stating on its website: "The French authorities have informed us that the qualifying period for vaccination status has changed with immediate effect to enter and exit France."
It added: "If you received your primary course of full vaccination over nine months ago and have not had a Covid-19 vaccine booster (for anyone aged 18 or over) you must follow the rules applicable to unvaccinated passengers when travelling to France.
You will need:
- to have an essential reason to travel to France and to complete the Certificate of Travel to Metropolitan France
- a negative pre-departure test taken no more than 24 hours before departure (NHS tests are not accepted)
- To complete a mandatory personal details form
- To complete a statement of honour
- To self-isolate on arrival for 10 days unless exempt
France will effectively treat travellers as if they were unvaccinated and can only enter with a "compelling reason".
Adult UK travellers recognised as fully vaccinated, must have received either:
- their primary approved course of full vaccination within the past nine months OR
- a Covid-19 vaccine booster jab.
The move comes follows Spain that has already imposed similar restrictions on arrivals from the UK.
