Jose Mourinho has moved to fill the void created by former Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum's broken leg at Roma by landing Mady Camara on loan from Olympiacos.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Camara, 25, will fly into the Italian capital for his medical in the next 24 hours ahead of a £1 million loan deal with an option to sign permanently for £10.8 million plus add-on clauses.
Wijnaldum's injury is expected to keep him out until Christmas and is almost certain to destroy his dream of leading Holland to the World Cup finals in Qatar. Mourinho sees the Guinea international as a like-for-like replacement and his arrival follows hard on the heels of Andrea Belotti's move to Roma at the weekend.
Baka on the move
Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko is reported to be attracting interest from Italian club Monza – although Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are possible rivals for his signature.
Bakayoko has fallen down the pecking order at AC Milan, where he is midway through a two-year loan spell, and Football Italia say he could tear up his contract at Stamford Bridge to become a free agent like Ross Barkley. Milan coach Stefano Pioli has decided the French midfielder is not part of his plans at the San Siro.
Forest have signed 18 new players in the current transfer window and a 19th, Wolves defender Willy Boly, could be on the way to the City Ground. Bakayoko would make staggering 20th signing by Steve Cooper, while Newcastle are monitoring the situation.
But newly-promoted Monza are favourites after a weekend summit between Bakayoko's agents and Milan directors at the weekend.
Asensio set to leave
Casemiro's £60 million move from Real Madrid to Manchester United may not be the only big-name departure from the Santiago Bernabeu before the transfer window shuts.
Reports from Spain suggest Marco Asensio could be edging close to the exit door, with coach Carlo Ancelotti telling the winger can leave if a good offer is tabled. Arsenal, Manchester United and AC Milan have all been linked with the 26-year-old Spaniard, although the Serie A club's interest is thought to have cooled.
With Asensio in the final year of his contract, the Gunners are thought to be favourites – although time is running short to clinch a deal.
