A European official has expressed strong disapproval of the Trump administration's recent decision to halt military aid to Ukraine. The official described the move as 'petty and wrong,' warning that it could have serious consequences for both the Ukrainian people and the ongoing conflict in the region.
The official raised concerns that the pause in military aid could lead to a deepening of distrust in the US government among the Ukrainian population. Additionally, they predicted that the lack of air defense missiles could result in unnecessary civilian casualties, as Ukraine may struggle to defend against Russian air attacks.
According to a Western official, Ukraine is currently able to maintain its fighting pace for several weeks, possibly until the beginning of summer, before the impact of the US aid pause becomes significant. The Biden administration had previously expedited shipments of advanced weapons to Ukraine, enabling the country to possess substantial stockpiles of sophisticated weaponry.

These advanced weapons, such as long-range ATACMS, have empowered Ukraine to conduct strategic strikes deep into Russian territory. However, the official expressed concerns that this capability could be compromised if the US military aid remains on hold.
While European nations may be able to step in to replace some of the US-supplied weaponry, including artillery, Ukraine's access to the most advanced weapons largely depends on support from the United States.
The situation remains fluid, with implications for the ongoing conflict in the region and the broader geopolitical landscape.
