Europe at Donmar Warehouse: First look at pictures of Michael Longhurst's inaugural production

The first pictures of Europe at the Donmar Warehouse have been released.

This 25th anniversary revival is the inaugural production for Michael Longhurst as new artistic director at the theatre.

David Greig’s 1994 play, which opens tomorrow, takes a timely look at our complicated relationship with Europe. It is set in a small border town on a station platform where trains no longer stop. When two refugees arrive, the local population is divided.

Game of Thrones actors Faye Marsay and Natalia Tena star in the play, alongside Billy Howle, recently seen in BBC drama MotherFatherSon. Theo Barklem-Biggs, Ron Cook, Kevork Malikyan, Stephen Wight and Shane Zaza complete the cast.

Chloe Lamford provides designs for the production with lighting by Tom Visser, sound by Ian Dickinson, movement by Imogen Knight and music by Simon Slater.

Longhurst takes over the position at the Donmar from Josie Rourke, who stepped down after eight years. He has recently directed The Son at Kiln Theatre, which will transfer to the West End in September, and Caroline, or Change, for which Sharon D Clarke won an Olivier Award.

The Donmar is introducing a new ticket scheme, which will see 40 additional tickets released every day for the next week's performances.

Europe runs at the Donmar Warehouse until August 10, donmarwarehouse.com
