The north London outfit’s reward is a quarter-final meeting with Frankfurt, currently fourth in the Bundesliga table, after the German side beat Ajax 6-2 on aggregate with Mario Gotze rolling back the years with a brace in the second leg.
Man Utd remain unbeaten in Europe this season and Bruno Fernandes remains an influential figure. He scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over 10-man Real Sociedad on the night as the Reds Devils progressed 5-2 on aggregate.
They will face a Lyon side that beat FCSB 7-1 across two legs.
Elsewhere, Athletic Club are still on course to reach the final which is being held in their home stadium after edging past Roma. They have been paired with Rangers who knocked out Fenerbahce on penalties despite a spirited second leg fightback from Jose Mourinho’s side.
