'Europa League gone' - Manchester United fans fearing worst amid Cristiano Ronaldo 'absence'

Manchester United fans are fearing the worst after reports suggested Cristiano Ronaldo will miss their final Premier League match of the season against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Reds need to win to secure their place in the Europa League next season, should they fail to do so and West Ham beat Brighton, the Hammers will snatch the final spot which will see United drop into the Europa Conference League next season. Ralf Rangnick's final match as interim manager is against the team that he started his temporary spell, although the preconceptions of the German's arrival haven't entirely played out as predicted.

Ronaldo, who has been instrumental in maintaining their push for Europe, could miss the trip to Selhurst Park through a hip flexor injury, according to The Athletic. The problem has hampered him on a number of occasions throughout his comeback campaign at Old Trafford but he has still had a huge impact on their season scoring 18 goals in 30 Premier League appearances, including two hat-tricks.

He cut a frustrated figure as he applauded the travelling fans in their last outing - the 4-0 defeat to the Seagulls. He took part in training in preparation for this weekend's clash but looks to be out meaning the dark day on the south coast could be the final action for the 37-year-old on his first season back in the Premier League.

With just two points separating the Reds and this season's Europa League semi-finalists, ahead of their trip to the capital, supporters have had their confidence wiped away. Here's how they reacted on Twitter.
