Euro 2024: When is Scotland's next game?

Scotland suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to hosts Germany in the opening game of Euro 2024 on Friday night.

A torrid first half saw Scotland head in at half-time 3-0 behind and a man down, with Ryan Porteous having been sent off for an awful challenge on Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. They did manage to get one back in the second half, but conceding two goals saw Steve Clarke's side humiliated in their first Euro 2024 game.

However, there's still hope for the Tartan Army to qualify for the knockout stages, it just depends on how the rest of the group pans out for them.

Scotland are in action next on Wednesday 19 June, where they face Switzerland at 9pm local time (8pm in the UK).

With six points still up for grabs against Switzerland and Hungary, there's still a great opportunity for Scotland to reach the last 16, whether that's automatically or as one of the best third-place teams.

That's especially when considering that Germany are ranked as one of the tournament's favourites to go all the way, who could well end up inflicting a similar level of damage on the other two teams in the groups.

Regardless, Steve Clarke will have to galvanise his team ahead of their second game, though, especially now because Porteous will be missing. Grant Hanley will likely come in at centre-back, while Billy Gilmour looks in line to start after being dropped in favour of Ryan Christie.

Lawrence Shankland could also start as the side's striker, replacing Che Adams in doing so.
