We are just a few hours away from the Euphoria season 2 finale, which Twitter says is the most tweeted-about season of a show this decade, as it is, quite literally, what all the kids are talking about these days.
We had a rare “to be continued” situation last week where the episode cut-off mid action, and the preview showed a few…harrowing things happening. So, how are we going to end this season? Let’s go through some predictions and options. Spoilers follow.
Fezco and Ashtray – Their snitching associate appears like he’s called the cops on them, but I do find myself wondering if he is working with the cops, and not say, the friends of the guy they killed at the end of last season. That would mean less arresting and more potential murder, but we’ll see. Fezco did appear to be bloody in the preview and looked extremely distraught. We know for a fact he doesn’t make it to the play and the scenes shown were in the past, compared to the normal timeline. But if we’re guessing between whether he’s arrested or dead, I’m going to say arrested. However, I don’t know what actual evidence the snitch has accrued, like them admitting to murder on tape, which doesn’t seem like it would have happened. So then they’re arrested for what, drug dealing? Something feels off about this, which is why I’m not sure if it’s the cops who are coming.
Cassie, Maddy, Lexi Battle Royale – So, the situation appears to be: Nate is somehow so offended by Lexi’s portrayal of him in her play that he…kicks Cassie out of his house, though I’m not sure how he made that leap after seemingly cozying up to the idea of Cassie being his very public girlfriend. So naturally Cassie loses it, and goes after Lexi, interrupting the end of the play, but she appears to have been stopped by Maddy, who is obviously looking for a moment to flay Cassie alive for what she did with Nate. She has a rich history of violence, and in a fight, I’m absolutely going to put my money on Maddy. Cassie can say she’s “crazier,” but when push comes to literal shove, I don’t think she has what it takes.
Rue and Jules – I feel like we have already seen the peak of Rue’s season with her wild withdrawal episode that is going to be hard to top. The play and the above characters seem like they will remain the main focus of the finale. My guess is that Rue and Jules may start speaking again, but obviously we’re not going to see them in a relationship again for a while. If ever. I would not be surprised if Jules starts dating Elliot openly after the two clearly had a connection, even when she and Rue were still together. I would also not be surprised if Euphoria was planning for Jules to get with Nate eventually, as messed up as that sounds.
Nate – Nate, as ever, remains a wildcard. I have next to no idea what he’s going to do after storming out of the play. Everyone else in the cast more or less is at the play, so maybe there will be one more confrontation with his father, or something like that. I highly doubt that we’ve seen the last of Cal. Or maybe Nate has his own awakening about his sexuality, something that the show has been dancing around for ages.
That’s all I’ve got for now. We’ll see where we stand in a few hours.
