Euphoria Season 2: Ashtray actor says major finale scenes were changed last minute

Euphoria season two did not disappoint and the finale played out earlier this week with some pretty epic scenes, involving an unexpected death.

One storyline in particular, which was left on somewhat of a cliffhanger, involved Fezco and his business partner Ashtray.

The following article contains spoilers for Euphoria seasons one and two.

The two characters aren't actually biological brothers, but viewers were given a glimpse into their back story at the beginning of season two.

Fezco and Ashtray are practically family after being brought up together by Fezco's grandmother - who also exposed them to the world of drug dealing at a very young age.

Unfortunately, season two didn't end too well for Ashtray after he stabbed and killed one of their associates Custer - who was secretly working with the police.

Moments later the police broke down the door to their apartment and proceeded to have a shoot out with Ashtray, who was surrounded by guns in the bathtub.

An injured Fezco laid in the hallway screaming at Ashtray to stop and surrender as he couldn't bear the thought of losing his adoptive brother and was even going to take the rap for Custer's death.

Sadly the scene ended with the police seemingly shooting Ashtray in the head, but it seems he wasn't the one who was originally going to die.

Actor Javon Walton, who plays Ashtray, has revealed the details of that particular storyline were changed at the last minute.

"Ashtray wasn’t supposed to get shot. That was another thing, he wasn’t supposed to get shot!" he said in a recent interview with Variety.

Euphoria season two saw Ashtray stab and murder one of their associates named Custer (HBO)

"It was Fez that was supposed to get shot at first, which is crazy. And then, like a day before, they changed the storyline to me getting shot."

Speaking about his shoot-out scene, Javon added: "It was pretty sad shooting that last scene because I knew that would be my last time on set, which sucks.

"I knew I was gonna miss everybody there…. It was a sad day, but also a good day. Because I knew I was going to make a strong last impression."

Euphoria seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on NOW.
