Watford have opened negotiations with Manchester United for the loan of Ethan Laird, according to The Athletic.
The right-back featured twice for United on the club's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, enjoying just under an hour's worth of action. Laird spent last season out on loan at two different clubs and he could be set for another move.
The report says Watford are keen to bring in the defender, who had spells at Swansea and Bournemouth last season, on a season-long loan as they look to bounce back from relegation.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich have reportedly pulled out of the running to challenge United for the signature of Frenkie de Jong.
Erik ten Hag is desperate to complete a deal for the Dutch midfielder this summer, though the move has hit a stumbling block. While the lack of progress is certainly concerning for United fans, they'll be glad to know there is said to be no chance of Bayern swooping in to complete a deal.
Sky Sport Germany claim the Bundesliga giants have ruled out any potential pursuit of the Dutchman. Meanwhile, talks continue between United and Barca.
