A 55-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering his estranged wife at a home in Perth's northern suburbs.
Paul Anthony Cannon made the admission when he appeared briefly in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates court this morning via video link from Casuarina maximum security prison.
He was charged after the body of Lynn Cannon was found at a house in Hardcastle Avenue in Landsdale around 9pm on Monday, December 5 last year.
She had suffered multiple wounds to her body.
At the time, police said they had received several calls to attend the home amid reports of screaming being heard.
They also revealed that family members had made calls expressing concern about Ms Cannon's welfare.
After police arrived and found her body, Mr Cannon was taken out of the home in a wheelchair to an ambulance, suffering what were described as self-inflicted injuries.
Distraught family members also attended the scene.
Mr Cannon was treated in hospital before being transferred to prison, where he has been ever since.
At the time of the murder the couple, who had two adult sons, had been separated for two years.
Mr Cannon will be sentenced in the Supreme Court at the end of August and is facing a likely life jail term.
Relatives of Ms Cannon attended the hearing but did not speak outside court as they left.
