Round 1 of the 2023 NFL draft is set to kick off on Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
The Kansas City Chiefs currently have the final pick in the first round of the draft, which means even with a trade, they won’t be picking anytime close to the start time for the NFL draft. Chiefs fans will be spending a good portion of the night waiting for other teams to make their selections en route to the bottom of the first round.
In the first round, each team gets 10 minutes on the clock before they need to turn in their selection. If a team doesn’t make a selection in the allotted amount of time, they’ll forfeit their draft slot to the following team and make a selection one pick later. Albeit it rare circumstance, this has happened before in 2011 with the Baltimore Ravens. In the case of the Chiefs, this shouldn’t be something they need to worry about seeing as they have the final pick in Round 1.
Below you’ll find estimated times for when K.C. will be on the clock should things go according to schedule. These estimations are based on pick times from the past three NFL drafts.
Round 1, Pick No. 31: 10:45 p.m. CT.
