ESPN’s Adam Schefter Makes Raiders’ View on Davante Adams Trade Extremely Clear

In discussions of the Raiders‘ struggles in 2023, much has been made of the play of Las Vegas wide receiver Davante Adams.

Through eight games, Adams is averaging 67.4 receiving yards per contest—his lowest total since 2017, when he averaged 63.2 yards for the Packers in his first Pro Bowl season. His average yards per catch is at an eight-year low, and he spent much of the Raiders’ last game before the trade deadline visibly frustrated as his team lost 26–14 to the Lions in Detroit.

Despite Adams’s situation, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on First Take that Las Vegas intends to keep him past Tuesday afternoon.

“The response that I got back to any potential Davante Adams trade, by the 4 o’clock Eastern deadline today was to quote: ’Not a chance in hell,’” Schefter said. “So there’s your answer.”

Adams—acquired by the Raiders in March 2022—is under contract through 2026 with a potential out after the 2024 season. He has spent the last half-decade as one of the most productive receivers in the league; his 10,176 career receiving yards rank fifth among active players.

As Schefter noted on First Take, the NFL’s trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET
